i really shouldn’t respond to this if you’re going to be cowardly about it, but i will, because i have something important to say.

there is absolutely nothing overrated about fighting for equality. and that’s exactly what feminism is. to address your points, yes, women can vote. but they can still not fight on the front lines of combat and they are on average paid far less than men.

society teaches women from birth that they are weak or crazy or useless. that they need to marry a man who will take care of them. that their sexual role is reproductive only. that they have little choice over their own bodies. that they must always act feminine, but not too feminine. that they must not be a slut, but they must also not be a prude. that they must not get raped, and if they do, it’s their fault. society teaches men that women are something to be looked at, not to be understood or connected with. that the worst thing a man can be is a woman. that if they are not “manly” or “tough” they are somehow as worthless as we are. that they can’t be raped. society tells disabled people that they can never have sex, and when they do, it will never ever be discussed. society has kept racism tightly wrapped up in gender equality, so if you are a person of color who is not a cis-man, you will spend your entire life being treated as an inferior.

society tells trans* people that they don’t even exist, let alone have any validity or rights.

all of that doesn’t even barely start to cover all of the fucked of things society teaches us.

societal standards, language, heteronormativity. these things oppress women, oppress trans* people, oppress queer people, oppress disabled people, oppress people of color, and yes, they even oppress men. so, don’t tell me that i have nothing meaningful left to fight for. i have everything to fight for.
